What’s On: Saturday 30th June

June 30, 2012

Today’s programme incorporates the Taliesin Arts Centre Dance Days programme.

The fuselage hosts performances from local and international performers; local favourites, County Youth Dance Company have been involved in Dance Days from the very beginning. Together with professional choreographers, Helen Parlor (Parlor Dance) and Marso Riviere(Company Decalage).

Rachael Mossom brings to life the wonderful and bizarre character, Claudio Montuori (Birdman) who busks on the streets of the Trastevere district in Rome with the strange instruments he finds against a backdrop of his own music.

The Primary Dance Project, this year, entitled, Flight Paths involves local primary schools: Cwm Glas, Blaenymaes, Cadle, St Helen’s and Seaview working with professional choreographer Mandy Clayfield, to create, perform and amaze. Following a performance on Taliesin’s stage earlier in June, over 180 young participants will perform in front of the plane.

Meanwhile across the town, Bodies in Urban Spaces takes over the streets of Swansea with its fearless human graffiti and Phillipe Saire presents his new work Jack created this week with the Victoria Park Bowling Club on their home lawn at Victoria Park.

Finally, back at the fuselage, Citrus Arts perform their astounding State Visit Swansea – directed by Eddie Ladd the piece promises to be a mesmerising spectacle, as anyone who has attended their open rehearsals all this week will attest to. Wire work in a plane!

Taliesin Dance Days is coordinated by Swansea University’s Taliesin Arts Centre, making Swansea part of a global network of dancing cities. For more information on cities that dance around the world visit www.cqd.info
