For Mountain, Sand & Sea

June 2010 // Commissioned by National Theatre Wales as part of their inaugural year in 2010.

Part art installation, and part adventure playground; For Mountain. sand & Sea was an immersive journey in response to the unique characteristics of Barmouth in North Wales; its extraordinary setting and the vivid historical pictorial archive that has been collected by the local community. The collection acted as a catalyst to draw stories from, and accumulate an oral history of the town. Those personal anecdotes, memories and reflections were then re-imagined and allocated to a group of international and Welsh artists to bring them to life.

The event  began with a social sculpture animating the archive. Over two and half hrs the audience were then guided to strategic places; sites; buildings, nooks and crannies corners that connected with the archive and stories to encounter short performances and interventions interventions  by the artists.
